News update dated 19 October 2026 — reported by Thai PBS World.
Water levels have begun to recede in Bangkok’s Nong Chok district following accelerated drainage. Thai PBS reports that a sluice gate was opened on Sunday evening, 18 October. Water on the Nong Chok side fell by about 10 cm; levels near Khlong Saen Saep and Min Buri rose slightly, by around 2 cm.
Relief registration changes
The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) plans to add walk-in points for flood compensation claims and divide queue-card distribution between morning and afternoon. Thai PBS says registrations had exceeded one million, creating long waits at some district offices.
What visitors should know
This update concerns Nong Chok and local water management. It does not describe conditions across all of Bangkok. If you are staying or travelling in the eastern part of the capital, check local alerts and road access before setting out.
